Dramatic Inquiry
The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss, was at the center of controversy for second graders. Working in collaborative groups, students were asked to present an argument to city council either for or against the building of a new Thneed factory. Students worked on their point of view and used a technique called "voices in the head" to present their arguments.
Word Processing
Everyone made great progress on learning and using Powerpoint. We are using some of the same skills and applying them to Microsoft Word. Students are learning to format size, color, style font; insert clipart art and adjust the text wrap. We are also learning about margins and the correct spacing between words and punctuation marks.
Bridge and Blocks Design Challenge
This challenge did a tumble! Working in groups, students were asked to construct a bridge out of 1 piece of plain paper that could support a load of blocks.
